HOW WE GOT HERE

In 2011, the idea of Morehead City Cigar & Tobacco was born while sitting around doing what else......yep, smoking a fine cigar! Although, many cigar shops had been frequented and compared to one another, the thought was, we could do this and do it better than others in the area. So, the search was on for a location. 

Once the location was found, the hard work began. Designing the interior space to include a humidor, a separate lounge and a showroom sales space was the plan. After the walls and paint went up, the focus became setting up accounts with all the various cigar houses out there. 

Along the way, Altadis, the house of Montecristo, Romeo y Julieta and many other well known cigar brands, saw the potential of where we were headed and wanted to jump on board by making us an Exclusive Montecristo Lounge. With the backing of a major cigar manufacturer behind us, we were well on our way.

Furniture was bought along with cabinets and other accessories to make the lounge comfortable and the showroom stand out as the center of attention to the store. But we did not stop there, we all know the humidor is the heart of a great cigar store. Spanish cedar was purchased and shipped in to completely cover the interior walls of the humidor. Even the shelves are made of Spanish cedar to assure that our cigars are in a perfect environment to sale and age.

Last but not least, cigars and more cigars were ordered to fill the new humidor and acclimate before the big opening. In April of 2011, we opened the doors for business to the public and have not looked back. Lessons have been learned, cigar lines expanded, accessories added and a new ventilation system all to make each and every customer feel like they are home when they walk through doors.
